I've looked all over this bike while converting it to fixed gear...and darned if I ever saw a serial number on it. Where can I find it and might need help after that dating it. I'd say 80's to 90's, round Schwinn Chicago head badge. Thanks in advance...

For dating purposes look for a small four digit number stamped into the headbadge.

It's usually in one of three places:

1) left rear fork end

2) bottom of bottom bracket (crank housing)

3) bottom of headtube just below downtube join

For dating information, see Schwinn Bulletin 23 (PDF Attachment).

I Found it!!! Finally, on the headbadge, and damn that number is small, ain't it? I had to take my spectacles off to read it. It's "1254" ... make's it the 125th day of 1984?

Thanks for the replies, great bunch out here
