Columbus sl Peugeot

I've been looking at a 1987 Peugeot on ebay with columbus sl frame and have a quick question for you folks. To my knowledge, Peugeot used Reynolds 531 up until about 1985 or so, then switched over to the columbus, and I was wondering if that corresponded to a switch in ownership/manufacturer/quality (though I understand that columbus sl is about the same quality as the Reynolds 531)? And if it does mean that, will this frame still have a french BB (and will that be really hard to find)?

And the point of this question is this: I was thinking of maybe using this frame for a fix-er-uper-project, and was wondering if it might be worth it?

Thanks for the help, and I'm sorry if this newbie question is out of place.

I'm actually in process of changing my name; I haven't had enough time to devise an appropriate appellation yet, and I have a pressing question. Sorry, the original Helmet Head has already busted my chops for it too. Be warned, I am not the venerable Helmet Head!

Thank God.

PS-- if you figure out the name change, let me know how to do it....

I think that it is priced a little fiercely, but the frame is really nice, with a rare headset. If I were looking for a nice Peug, I'd consider it. You need to do a little research and determine which Columbus tubing was used for this frame - there is a considerable difference in grades. Pinare usually knows his stuff, but there ain't no guarantee that that columbus decal implies anything about columbus sl.

Last year of the PX used COlumbus. Not sure otherwise. Ask the seller about the serial number; it may contain model info or year of manufacture. Price seems steep to me.

In 1987 most frames were coming from Canada. I have a Peugeot from either 86 or 87 and BB is English threaded.
