I'm re-habing one at the moment (or maybe a 712; even T-mar isn't sure) that looks as if it spent 10 years in a damp basement.
They were a mid-level recreation/fitness bike marketed in the mid/late '80s. The frame should be triple-butted Miyata cro-mo (They rolled their own tubing). Some folks think they were a real nice production bike. I know I liked my 312, and will most likely ride the 512 until I hang it up.
What's it worth? Whatever it sells for. I've been pricing Miyatas for the last few months and have seen 312/512/712 framesets go for $25 to $130 on the 'bay. I paid $54 plus shipping for a complete 512 with quite nice (but not orginial) mavic wheels. But I'll have to replace the headset, chain, and every bearing ball in BB and headset, plus cartridge hub bearings in the front (Geezzz, aren't these a bad idea!).
