its actually a lady. i might have a pic of the bike. she states its a rare px10.

come to think of it with that type of logic. i have a rare ferrari, its actually the pinto horse model with the self imploding gas tank.

she really thinks she has a rare px10 that looks like a u08. i'm missing something

300 dollars canadian sounds about right for a PX circa 1972, PX was available in blue (less common than white), folks would add all manner of things to them. Including kickstands. I see nothing to suggest a UO8, though I would proceed cautiously, asking questions about the bike's details. The price is high, IMO.

However, it is quite common to see UOs mis-identified as PXs.

Can anyone say Peugeot A Approuvé le Tuyau de Gaz (Peugeot Approved Gas Pipe) UE-8?

I can't stand it when folks accidentally misprint things...but I have no respect for those who do it knowingly.

looking at the little bit of exposed wheel, I think you'd find that you really want what's under the tarp instead of the bike...but the simplex switchblade quick releases seem to be bringing a lot on ebay right now, aren't they?

Are you telling me that folks actually pay money for those quick release hub skewers on the UOs?

Geez - maybe I shouldn't have passed on that UO-8 that the LBS offered me for nothing...

UO18. Or UE8, I can never keep the touring distinctions on those straight. Seller needs to knock the price down about 600$. Maybe a bit higher for the saddle, which is the only real prize.

"...but the simplex switchblade quick releases seem to be bringing a lot on ebay right now, aren't they?"

Yeah, I saw the 150$ ones... I figure I've got at least a half-dozen of them, including perfect ones from 1967... no sale, though, and I'm not sure that seller will get his asking price. I like mine. I've bought entire PXs for less. In fact, all three of my PXs together were way, way, way cheaper than the UO that started the thread... vintage bike pricing is starting to get insane, which worries me, given my low annual income.

It's a UE-8.

UO-18 = mixte
UE-8 = Euro UO-8, with mudguards and lights
UE-18 = Euro UO-18, with mudguards and lights

Through the mid-1970s, no rear triangle chrome --> not a PX-10.

was under the tarp MBZ?

yeah i saw the skewers on ebay, but i think those guys are nuts. i'm going to list a simplex rear derailleur for $3,000 and see how much people start raising there simplex items. i just think not everyone that places items on e bay knows what they have and just decides to place a high price. i came across two mid 70's peugeot u models that had those same skewers. i also some someone list them for $4, which i thought was reasonable

Is that the starting bid, the reserve, or the "buy it now" price?
