Bianchi Super Leggera
Howdy,
My first post here after reading a lot of the other threads/comments. My neighbor has a 55cm (my size) super leggera he's willing to sell for a reasonable price. I'm wondering what is a fair price to offer.
I checked out the bike and wrote down all the visible details (he nor I know the specific Campy components):
Year 1989 (does that likely make it a steel frame?)
Style 14sp Road
Sizes 55
Colors Celeste
Frames SuperLeggera
Fork Tange CrMo (i think this is the only non-original component)
Headset Campagnolo
Handlebar 3T (TECNO TUBO TORINO) Criterium
Stem 3T (TECNO TUBO TORINO)
Brakes/Levers Campagnolo
Crankset Campagnolo
Bottom Bracket Campagnolo
Chain “PG FRANCE”?
Cassette Campagnolo
Wheels Campagnolo
Derailleurs, r/f Campagnolo
Shifters Campagnolo
Saddle Bianchi (celeste color)
Seatpost Campagnolo
Pedals & Tires - I didn't write down
After reading thru the forum I think around $300 is fair? But i'm asking you to check me on this.
Thanks in Advance

If the price is reasonable and it fits, AND you like how it rides, then buy it.
The conditional is required because of the replacement fork, what happened? Bad things happen to good bikes.
Replacement forks suffer sometimes as the geometry compared to the original gets changed. A different rake and or a different "height", distance from the crown race seat to the axle center as measured along the steering axis, which is a virtual dimension, can have an effect.
Thats why you got to ride it, if you like it then happiness. If you don't feel secure, then don't go any farther.

A super leggera is a fairly rare bike...but as number6 says, bad things happen...the front fork may be replaced because the thing was crashed into a parked car or something. Look (or feel) for ripples behind the front tube, on the down tube and/or the top tube. If the frame is bent, then it isn't worth $300 - if it is straight then it probably is, although I'd want to put the fork back to original, and that may take some time and money.
The price is also pretty heavily dependent on which campagnolo parts group is on the frame. If the parts group is C-Record and in good shape, you are getting a really good deal at $300, even if the frame is bent. If the parts group is Triomphe, then you aren't getting such a deal...can you post some pictures, or at least describe what the brakes look like, and the arrangement of the arms on the crankset?
