Anyone know wht era skip tooth sprockets were used. I have a '50 Schwinn Ladie's Panther - no skip tooth. Late 50's Columbia that has skip tooth. Was there some overlap on their use? I remain confused!

Skip tooth was most popular before WWII. After the war is was gradually phased out by various companies, as far as I know. I think some companies probably retained on some of their models longer than others did. My '36 Schwinn has skip tooth, my '61 Higgins doesn't.

skip tooth = 1" pitch. You can still buy 1" pitch stuff, new. But half-inch pitch had taken over in the general interest by the early 40's. People say 1" roller chain is the smoooovest stuff ever, for fixies and the like.
