I have a 1949 Raleigh Clubman (serial 49-9 on rear hub) with all original parts and would like to get a better handle on its value. It is in good condition and rideable - but does need two new tires.

Can you give me some idea of its value as a classic bicycle? It has the Brooks leather seat, saddlebag, built-in front Dynahub generator, aluminum mudguards and the frame is Reynolds 531 tubing with original decals.

Thanks,

'46?

The Clubman came out in '48, and was discontinued in '51.

Please post photos!

I am quite sure that the serial number on the hub indicated 1946, and I know that my father got it just after the war. I do have several phaotos - but they are all about 2 megs apiece and I was not able to upload here. If you send me an e-mil - I will be happy top send you photos.

Hmm. Sounds very interesting. You can send the photos to

May I ask if there is a serial number on the frame? I have succesfully decoded most frame serials from 1947-1954 as well.

Take care,

-Kurt

I did clean the hub and check the serial number this evening - and I must apologize - you are correct. The serial number is 49-9, and I will email some photos to you directly.

So - obviously this is a 1949 Clubman - not a 1946.
