Motobecane experts: a little help?

I just bought this bike for $100 bucks on eBay. It's been repainted (badly, alas) so I don't know anything abou the orginal gruppo, but it currently sports high-end Suntour drivetrain and brakes and Campy Record/Ambrosio tubular wheels. It's noticeably lighter than my Peugeot PX-10.

I've looked around on the Web, and the only other bike I've seen with that style Moto head tube badge was a Team Champion, and the lugs on my bike look similar to that TC. I've checked out the scratches and chips, and I don't see any evidence of orange under the rattle-can black; it looks like it was originally grey or silver. There's no serial number stamped into the bb.

Any guesses as to what I have? Did Motobecane use that head tube badge on bike other than the Team Champion? The Le Champion, maybe? Or did they ever make Team Champions in colors other than orange?

(I bought the bike to ride, by the way, and it's SWEET! so I'm thrilled with it no matter what model it turns out to be. I'm just curious, really.)

If it has Nuovo Record hubs then you got a really sweet deal!

Hard to tell anything with the eBuy pics. I have seen TCs in silver and in blue in addition to the BIC orange. Get us some decent pics and we can maybe tell you more. If you remove the paint, I know in some instances there is a Reynolds ID engraved lightly on some of the tubing. One person told me seat tube, another said they have seen it on the top tube. Lack of engraving does not mean it is not Reynolds. Anything on the BB?

It's possible that I'm wrong about this, but I don't think the head badge indicates the model; Motobecane used different head badges in different years, and I think it would just indicate the general vintage of the bike.

Thanks, all. I'll post some pictures as soon as I figure out my wife's digital camera. Unfortunately, there isn't much more to show, except maybe better detail on the lugs and the fork. The rattlecan paint job obscures most clues.

I don't see anything at all on the BB, but I'll try to get a good shot of the dropouts: maybe that'll help.

Get a closeup of the lugs too. It's hard to tell from the photos, but it looks like they may be nervex lugs, which would help narrow the model down.

I am pretty certain you are correct. General vintage only.
