The color, decals, etc. are identical to an '84 le tour frame I have. But mine has Suntour ARX derailleurs front and rear, and sidepull brakes. I wouldn't be surprised if it's some version of a le tour, though.

I agree with well biked. It looks like either an '84 or '85 LeTour(check the headbadge for a date code). These were the only two years with this decal scheme. Your components are a little different from what is specified in the catalog though.

Yeah, and when I said mine is an '84 model, it could also be an '85 year model, because the assembly date is late '84........They're nice bikes, with the forged dropouts; my '83 le tour luxe, also with 4130 tubing, has the stamped dropouts.

1984 it is. Date code on badge, and date on bike shop decal both indicate 84. Did these bikes not have LeTour decals on them? This bike looks original, and there is no indication of missing decals or repaint.

Seems like there should have been a le tour decal on the top tube, near the head tube. Mine does, and it's just a le tour, not a super le tour, le tour luxe, etc. My '84 model (or '85?) is a couple sizes small for me, or I'd be riding it. I bought it at a yard sale as a parts bike so I could rebuild the '83 I'm now riding, in a much altered form Most comfortable bike I've ever ridden, I believe! Are those Symmetric shifters on yours? My '84 has those, and I now realize there's a unique braze-on attachment on the frame for them. I've heard they're nice shifters, and the ARX derailluers look good, too. If I ever build the '84 bike back up, I'll stick with that shifting system, for sure. Good luck with yours-

The '84 catalog doesn't have a pic of the mixte frame, only the regular frame, which is in silver with yellow decals. I can't see a name decal on the top tube, but I imagine that it's supposed to be there. It's there on the other road models. The '85 catalog has the bike in blue and you can clearly see the name decal on the top tube. The '84 catalog lists the rear derailleur as Sun Tour ARX-GT, front derailleur as Sun Tour ARX, shifters as Sun Tour top mount, Brakes as Dia-Compe QS500N alloy side pull, and rims as Weinmann 416 27 x 1 1/4 alloy.

Update on the decals. I found decal glue residue on the downtube under all the grime. The FD is a Suntour ARX, The rear is a Sport LX. It looks newer than 84 stylewise. It has a 6 speed freewheel.
Thanks for the info. This may make a good rider for my daughter.

Yes the shifters are Suntour Symmetric. I also bought it as a parts bike, but after looking at it closer, this one may survive to ride again. I only paid 10 bucks for it, so whatever I do with it I won't be out anything.
