Bike with Bling

Awhile back I posted my Catch of the Day: A '66 all-chrome Raleigh Sports

https://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.p...postcount=1287

Well, now the restoration process is almost complete, and I wanted to post some pics. Thanks to Mike Swantak of VeloGraphic for the repro decals.

Keep in mind that it was overcast when I was taking these pictures. Hard to keep down the bling!

Neal

Gorgeous, Neal! Simply gorgeous.

Congratulations on a really nice job. Mike's decals make it perfect.

Neal,

I'll keep my eyes open for handle grips, pedals and a handlebar binder for you. Otherwise, it looks like you just wheeled her out of the showroom. Excellent job.

That is so darned pretty. Very nice work.
Thanks for sharing the pics, so we can appreciate one more flavor of Raleigh bike.

Thanks, John. The grips actually are in quite good shape, but I do need to clean them up a bit more. The pedals treads are quite worn; I have a decent pair on a '62 lady's Sports, but they're the shorter mods (3.5" versus 4", I believe). As far as the stem binder bolt goes, I believe I have a better looking one somewhere in my parts stash!

Calm? You want me to stay calm on the day that these two important Chrome Raleigh events happen:

#1: My best bicycle buddy, Neal Lerner, is teasing me with yet more eye candy of that chrome Sports of his...
and
#2: The seller I was negotiating with for a 1966/7 women's all-chrome Sports ends up listing the thing on eBay...

...all this and you expect me to stay calm? MEDIC!!

Of note, today's Raleigh Catch Of The Day did appease me somewhat:

A beauty of a '73 all-gold DL22L (you might have seen it in eBay auction #7233989983).

Goes nicely with my men's '71 all-gold.

Well, enough of taking over Neal's thread.

By the way, Bob, your freewheel went out a few days ago.

Take care,

-Kurt

Neal -- I see we need to also get you a Sir Walter Raleigh tubing decal for the top of the seat tube, and a 'Made in England', too.

Sounds good, Mike. Seems that the very hard chrome surface of the tubes is not very friendly to the original decals. But it sure shine up nicely!
