Idle hands are the devil's workshop...

Off-topic, but I thought you guys would get a grin out of it. I made a little urban assault vehicle out of a 2003 Next Break Point MTB I picked up for $20. Street tires, better bars and kickstand, cushy Avocet gel saddle, a dyno-driven halogen headlamp, and LED tail light. It soaks up potholes and mows down pedestrians like you wouldn't believe. The V-brakes provide the kind of panic-stop capability a guy needs around here, and I can actually make it up the hill to the 7-11 with it.

Once I took it apart and put it back together properly it proved to be a pretty decent little bike. They get their bad rep because they tend to come out of the factory with 'issues' like missing fasteners and overtightened bearings -- things the kid in the back room at Wal-Mart doesn't know to look for or how to fix.

I was going to put a cantilever luggage rack and maybe some SKS fenders on it, but it looks like I won't get the chance. I put it on CL today for $90 and I've gotten half a dozen hits already, two or three of whom are coming over later.

wow! I've set Next Break Point and Run to Next Break Point most of my adult life, and never actually knew what one looked like.

That looks a lot like my crappy Apollo MTB, which again, is alright, really. I also put a big soft saddle on it, but in my case, I swapped out the bars for some off a motorcycle - about 1/2 as wide again as any MTB bars I've seen. I don't think it gives me any practical benefit, but it sure looks cool!
