Baylis!

I know, I know. We gotta place for this. But I've never even seen one for sale before, and this one is too cool for words. Of course, like lotek, they don't seem to ever be my size...weird that the CR crowd hasn't started discussing this in excruciating detail yet...

Jeez...you're picky. First a 56cm Raysport is 1cm too big and now a 51cm Baylis is 2cm too small. Just get a nitto Technomic stem and an extra long seat post and ride it.

As for me...I ain't got the cash, so that's my story and I am sticking to it.

BTW, the Wizard sufaced last night on CR.

with all the whinging and moaning about the NOS PX10 I
missed the wizard post.
yah I am picky in that I want a bike to come close to fitting. . .
I can stretch to a 56 ctt (and pray for no fast dismounts!)
wait, I thought your raysport was a 58? where did I see that?
hmmm.
but a 51? I tried my wife's 50cm bike and nitto technomatic or not
it ain't happening.

fwiw I also don't think I can afford what that one is going to finish at.

I ride a 56. This bike is 5 cm too short in both directions (vertical and horizontal). There isn't a stem long enough. But, geez. How much do you think it'll go to?

Obviously this is a very special bike, so maybe the same rules of supply and demand wouldn't apply to it as other bikes. But I'm curious, do you think the very small size would tend to drive the value up or down?

yah I think it will hit reserve, and I think it will be right up there with the
recent paramounts.
My guess is that the high bid will be in the $1500 range.

Any wagers that the bike goes to the far east?

It is already out of my range, although I could feed the kids pork and beans for a few months, if it were my size. But $1500, man, they'd have to eat like that for a year...

I say $1500. does not make reserve.

Better question, what does the seller value it at.

hmmm now comes a bidder "brian...." wonder if it is our
esteemed Mr Baylis calling his frame back home.
If so I'm sure he will post on CR list about it.

anyone know how many Wizard frames were made?

That sounds about right. I have ridden with him once, in a group ride. He was on one of his own creations, which made almost everything else look pretty plain and ordinary.

Brian rides either a 50 or 51. He was going to buy the Eisentraut that
I got for my wife (bought it from Sterling) and is the first post in vintage rides thread.
we discussed it at NAHBS last year.

Reserve? My sources say over $2k, poor images don't help , there were a selection of images, many did not load for me and some were not additonal views just details of others, also white is a hard color to light for detail contrast.

Maybe now Brian can make an offline offer.

Somewhere in the CR archives is a Wizard build number, I remember being surprised by it, but it did not stick in my memory if it was high or low.

Hmmm...just a word aside about that contact thing. If you think that you might like to contact a seller after an item closes without making reserve, you should contact him before the auction ends - kind of like opening up a communication line. Ebay is pretty good about closing down the lines of communication after the auction ends.

For me its snipe, then win or forget about it. Sometimes ask a question but not often. But I have not bid on anything in months, got to put current projects to bed, or at least get them in the workstand.
