eBay vintage chrome Schwinn Paramount saga part 1.

A few months ago I posted a question asking how much vintage chrome Schwinn Paramounts where worth on ebay. I asked the question because it seemed that the prices of these bikes where sky high. The replies I received where primarily, "yes they are, but are worth it". I agree primarily with the response.

Moving along, there is a beautiful vintage chrome Paramount track bike currently being offered at ebay. VIEW the auction HERE. Starting bid $2950; Buy-it now $3400. Look at the auction and let me know if you think this chrome Paramount is worth it. One thing for sure it is a sweat bike.

Personally I'am too tall for this bike. I like these bikes alot, but being so Old I wouldn't want to beat them and bruise them up if I had a few. And for the price this individual is asking for this bike, I much rather get a custom road bike from Carl Strong, a chrome frame of course.

I'm sorry, but I think the seller's "Buy-It-Now" price is about three times what it should sell for. They're very nice bikes and I guess it's worth what somebody will pay for it, but recent eBay auctions for nice chrome Paramounts (P13-9s, P14s, P15-9s) have wound up in the $1000 - $1500 range.

I notice there aren't any bids - yet...

w/a dented top tube?

i love eBay entertainment!

(i'm sure a vintage Paramount in great condition is a wonderful machine, but do people buy them to ride them, or like the seller in the above auction, merely hang them from a ceiling?)

Maybe we're still on our honeymoon, but mine gets ridden every day it's not raining.

If you're a trackie, I'd say it may be worth $1500...it is authentic. It'd cost you $300 to put authentic seta sewups on it. You'd be stylin' at the track, but they really don't make very good bikes for the road (like, um, in traffic, unless you are slightly crazy). Mine hang from the ceiling when I'm not riding them...

I see chrome paramounts being ridden in the rain every year on TOSRV. If you figure their owners put in a few training rides during the April rain season to get ready that makes for a fair amount of foul weather riding over the course of thirty years.

You know itsIRIEpat if you like track all chrome Paramount you only have to wait for one. I do believe that everything in this world may fall into our hands without much effort. $3000 for a bicycle from 64 is too much. Sooner or later you are going to get a Paramount track all chrome for free or a simbolic price at the most.

That 3k Paramount track is definitely too expensive. I would definitely spend that 3K on custom frame.

P14 that I owned is my daily commute ride in San francisco, rain or shine (I prefer shine), up and down the hills. It rides very well ON THE STREET compared to other racing frames i owned. The seat tube definitely not as steep as Merckx or Cinelli.

well...

As of 3:15 p.m. May 18th, there are no bids on this bike...

I also forgot to mention that the dude wants $175 for shipping the bike; hope that would be a darn good packing job!

Also forgot to mention that the seller stated that the previous owner of this bike use to race it against someone named Jackie Simes, if that means anyting to anybody or would add to the value of this bike then I dunno!!??!?

Holy Cow! After posting the above reply I searched at eBay and found another new auction for a P-13 chrome road bike. I don't know where the bidding started, but there is already one bid for $1000 with 4 days and 16 hours of bidding left. RESERVE NOT MET!

View the auction HERE

Oh and on this bike shipping is only $35 from Spanish Fork Utah

(not to mention it's frankly not very interesting who someone used a bike to race against)

I'm just hoping after how old this thread is is that there's one less person
looking for an all-chrome Paramount on Ebay-

Wait-probably not- He'd keep announcing it to the world every time one pops up!
