Miyata triplecross build

TimJ asked for pics on another thread, but rather than hijack I'll start from scratch.
I picked up the bars, levers, shifters, and Take-Offs for $41 on eBay, and found the frame at the same place a few hours latter. Everything else is either off my old 312 or dump finds (like the cheesy TY-30 cranks, but I have a better set in the pipeline)
I built this up as a light duty trail bike to ride on dirt roads, timber roads, and farm trails with my kids, but the more I ride it the more I like it. It's not quite a road bike, or a ATB, or a cyclocross bike. Just what DO you call it? Cyclo/hybreed wannabe?

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

I'd call it a really good touring platform, myself!

What width tires are you running? and on what rim size? How does it ride on fire road?
I'm hoping to run my schwinn voyageur on the mickelson trail century, so this is really good to know right now.

Tires are 700cx32. Rides just fine on what they call 'unimproved' roads up here. Nice to be able to steer and stop in the loose stuff, which I could'nt take for granted with the beater road bike I used to ride.

I have a aluminum Miyata Quickcross that has a Crmoly fork, I use it for my utility-rain bike. I also have a frameset of the same that needs paint if anybody wants to trade for parts. Mine rides great for a AL bike.

Now it's working. Nice. That's a newer model than my trail runner was, actually. I'll bet that's an 90 or 91 judging by the lettering. Sweet ride.

It was billed as an '89, close enough for Gov't work.
And my Exage 50-40-30 crankset showed up in today's mail, so put a fork in it boys, it's done!
Until I find a 7-speed sfifter, anyway
