Raleigh Grand Prix
What's the consensus opinion on the perceived value of a Raleigh Grand Prix? I found it on Craig'sList and based on the picture it looks like a late 60's to early 70's model.
Opinions?

If it's that red one from the '3 bikes in the attic' ad, don't give him more than $20-$25. It's a '69--'71 based on the pic, the paint is beat, and it's got the wrong saddle. Don't get me wrong; I think GPs are great little bikes -- I love my '68 -- but they aren't uncommon, and this isn't an especially good one. If a GP is what you want, look a little longer -- you can find really nice ones for around $50 without much trouble.

I literally paid 5 bucks for my 77 GP.
Its got a few paint chips but no rust or dings.
I slapped on the old chrome fenders and the seatpost rack so I have a muddy-day commuter.
Its a gentle riding bike. I think it has to do with the rake of the front fork. The only thing I don't like (besides a bit too small) is that the fork isn't stiff enough. The bike developes a front end wobble at much over 30 mph.

I like my old Grand Prix. It's an early to mid-70's Nottingham model and I agree w/ silversmith about the ride. The frame is nice but heavy and the components are so-so. Original steel rim wheels are yuk. Don't pay a bunch for one of these, as you will probably want to have cash left over for upgrades. (Note: I can fit 700c alum rims and adjust the brakes to fit.)
