Kenda 27 1/4 whitewalls- Source?
I've heard rumblings that Kenda makes or used to make 27 1/4" whitewalls. Does anyone have a source for these. I've seen some 27's on ebay, but I can't get the guy to respond to my emails about them, which makes me a bit leary. Anyway, if anyone has any tips.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Are you sure you mean whitewalls and not gumwalls (tan sidewall)? Up until about a month ago, Kenda gumwalls were available at your local K-mart. They changed suppliers so if your K-mart has old stock you still might be able to obtain Kendas from them. I can't help you with whitewalls.

Seaneee did intend to say whitewalls.
Frankly, I'm wholly un-impressed by the quality of the white sidewall on the Kendas.
Personally, I prefer the Duro brand for whitewall 27" tires. They usually have a nice, sharp sidewall, not to mention that Duro produces them in god knows how many tread patterns.
Photos of each of these tires (along with the rest of their quite expansive line) can be seen here. Click for the Tires section: https://www.fnrco.com/inner-finalx.asp
F & R Co. is the distributer of the Duro 27"s, as you've probably inferred from the site. J&B does not carry the Duro tires. Call them up (contact info: https://www.fnrco.com/contactus.asp ) to ask them for a list of local F & R dealers.
If the dealer doesn't have the 27"s in stock, he can order them. Don't let the dealer tell you that they require a minimum order of 100 or so, for that's simply an excuse. F&R does not require the dealer to order a minimum of parts, but they do stick the dealer an extra $5 if the dealer's order is less then $25.
Take care,
-Kurt

Kurt-
Thanks for the tip. I'll contact them and see what they can do. I've been trying to hunt down 27's for a while that don't, well, suck. Most of what I have found have been pretty poor.
Thanks again.

Best of luck. Mind you, they won't sell direct.
I must warn you though - if you're hoping or looking for a whitewall 27" that rides the same as a Continental, you're not going to find it. The Duros are nice tires, but they still are somewhat of the Kenda/Chen Shing variety, just produced with a bit more finess and care (Kenda in particular are slobs when it comes to white or gumwalls).
