New to me steel frame bianchi..help!
Just acquired a late 80s steel frame bianchi. columbus SLX tubing. the works. the bike came with some components. It had a rear wheel, and it was set up for singlespeed. I took the whole thing apart the day I got it. Anyways, I'm kind of concerned about a few things. One, the rear hub spacing was about 120mm, and the rear dropout spacing was about 132mm. I've heard of spreading the frame to accomodate larger hubs, but I've never heard vice versa. Is this bad for the frame? I'm gonna check to see if the dropouts are centered. I'm actually kind of pissed that the previous owner didn't mention this. I didn't see any cracks or anything, but why would someone risk doing that to such a gorgeous frame? Not to mention I paid a good amount for it. The frame looks brand new. Hopefully the intergrity of the frame won't be in jeopardy because of this jackass. I feel a little better after that rant.

Steel doesn't care whether it's been bent one direction or another. It should be fine.

I'm no expert and this is only my opinion but I think a steel frame should handle a certain amount of 'springing' of the rear forks and stays. I would get a 'pro' to do the job as the alignment is important as well as the dropouts remaining parallel.
The Bianchi frame sounds great.
