I had a factory-drilled 50T Sugino Mighty Victory chainring from the early 1970s and a factory-drilled Stronglight 52T ring from 1980. Drilling is SO 1970s.

These brake levers are Weinmanns from 1982. I think I could save more weight by blowing my nose before riding .

But I do like the way they look.

Drillium ain't rare - back in the early 70's it was all the rage. It got to the point that I did a total drillium treatment to a complete set of Campagnolo NR for a custom Falcon I was building for the 1973 riding season. Had a small drill press up in my apartment attic/shop. Trashed two rear derailleurs before I figured out how far I could go and still have them hold together under stress.

Well, maybe it is rare, seeing that most of us who did it weren't exactly worried about strength and reliability. Valuable? I seriously doubt it.

I liked drilled brake levers for the extra friction when riding in the wet. Drilling was cool because Eddy's bikes had it.
