95mm spacing with 100mm hub?

Hi.

My 1980 Schwinn Le Tour got front fork hub spacing of +_95 mm.
I have spear wheel with 100mm hub which can be squeeze in to space but, will it be O.K.to be use that way? I am concern about damageing fork.

If not, where can I find 95mm hub?

Thank you for all input.

If it will squeeze in, it's fine to use it that way, you're not going to hurt anything at all. You can probably take hold of the fork at the dropouts with your hands and spread it out a little beyond 100mm, "cold setting" (bending) it permanently to the 100mm spread. No guarantee it will remain aligned perfectly doing it this way, but in just spreading it a few millimeters, it should be fine.

Had a similar problem on an old Peugeot UO. Found an old sunshine hub, removed a couple washers, presto, 96mm hub. Had to shave a bit of the axle to make the QR work proper like, though.

One of my LeJeunes has 95mm fork spacing also. I just spread the fork a bit to get the 100mm hub in. No worries, mate. But I do find it odd that it is spaced such.

I haven't measured them, but both my 1982 and 1978 Le Tours have tight front forks.

It doesn't hurt anything to give them a little nudge when swapping wheelsets.
