Request for 80's Vintage Peugeot input

I've been monitoring local buy-sells and Craigslist for a decent, sorta-fleet steel frame road bike to use as my nastier weather commuter (so I can let my Jamis Aurora have the winter off if possible... tho it'll be hard to hang her up as she has NEVER let me down).

a Peugeot came up here locally on a list (still have not heard back from the seller)
Description:

1980s Puegeot 12 Speed Vitesse - $50
Great transportation - White 54cm 12 speed. All original equipment. Bike has been ridden, but well maintained. Everything works fine, tuned up last year.

I did some searches on Google but didn't come up with much
I know that's not much to go by...

what are we dealing with here? Heavy? a 12 speed does sorta date it...
I'd love an early 80's Trek but they are not easy to come by
(not even sure if the frame would be the right size)

Just looking for something to feed the flame!
thanks

I'd jump on that. I enjoyed my single-speeded 1980 U010 this spring. It was a fun, quick ride and I sold it for exactly what I paid for it: $50.

In the early 1970s, the 28 lb. Peugeot UO-8 was one of the lightest of the basic "stovepipe" entry-level 10-speeds. With its wide mudguard and tire clearance, my 1970 UO-8 is a superb commuter and general transportation beater.
