X-post from road cycling forum. anyone ID this bike?
So I have this really old street bike...
I actually got it roadworthy today. also the bottom of the bike is stamped 5968.
my dad bought it when he was in 9th grade. so its maybe 25-30 yrs old.
here are pics of it finished (for now) (and a random cat)
Well, duh, Mr Obvious.
I would say more like 40 years old
Falcon is old Shimano gear. Not sure what vintage that makes it. What do the stickers on the forks have on them? A logo or are those recent additions?
they came with the handlebar wrap I put on tonight. lol just some ricy addition to my new (old) ride.
I didnt ask my dad if he bought it new or not. btw he said when he go tit it had this crazy gold metal flake paint on it. then he panted it orange..then blue. heh.
the front shifter thing is suntour ..the shifter thingy on the frame is huret?(sp) and the brakes are ballilla (sp)
100% USDA certified
Looks pretty. Post a closeup of that crankset.
Do ya happen to drive a Porsche 944 by any chance? I'm in love with those cars.
Death fork? Naaaah!!
Crankset and headset/stem.
First guess, looking at the cable routing, what I can see of the headset, the Barillia brakes, the dropouts, and the spoke guard I'd say lower tier Atala. They came with Simplex Prestige DRs, which would have been replaced on any bike ridden regularly over the past 35 years or so.(I replaced the ones on my Atala in '74/'75 ot thereabouts).
