If it's from Houston, the registration sticker could be at least ten years off. I have seen a mid 80's Schwinn with a 75 sticker, and my 85/86 Peugeot has a 75 reg. sticker. Not sure how it happened, maybe they made too many stickers, lol.,,,,BD
Post a pic? Either way it sounds like a deal to me.

Yeah, based on some research I did and the way the bike is outfitted, I think it's a '75 or '76. I got it up and riding today with some wheels and shifters from an old Schwinn Sprint. I also had to use a rear centerpull brake from an old Kia as the original is bent. It rides pretty good, and the shifting is suprisingly smooth. An interesting bike. I'll try to get some pics up by the weekend. (One day I need a camera that will talk to my home computer!!)

If anyone lives near Tampa here is something you may be interested in. I would check it out but I already have a "project" bike and the other half is not interested in me taking on another one.

Here's the US Express my wife caught the other day. It really needs to go on a diet quick, hehe. I'm think a crank change, alloy wheels, etc. I should be able to drop several pounds off this boat anchor. Late 80's Peugeot with steel wheels? Were they hurting for cash in that time period Oh well, it has lugs, and I love the color combo.,,,,BD

Cha ching! The flea market strikes again. Bridgestone X03. Triple butted Ishiwata and moustache bars, complete with Dummy hoods for a different hand position. I'm confused though. Is this a touring bike or a converted MTB? It's pretty cool either way, and will be a keeper.,,,,BD
Not bad for $20, eh? I stopped by the bike guy's booth and got a decent front wheel for it.

This Bridgestone is comfortable!! I put a seat on it, adjusted the gears, and aired up the tires. Fits me like a glove. My MB-5 seems overly twitchy and hard to handle, but this one is like an English roadster. Love it!,,,,BD

Thanks. I think it needs a black Brooks to set it off. Good thing I just sold two bikes today. Made a very decent profit on both. The Alpine a couple of pages back, and the Raleigh Olympian. I hated to see them go,
but both guys were enthusiastic. That makes it all worthwhile sometimes. Well, the cash does too. The XO got the $5 Panaracer Hi Roads from even further back in this thread. So far I'm out $25, and have a nice riding bike. Add $35 for some lined housings and SS cables, and It's going to be even nicer.,,,,BD

Then tell me how many braze-ons it has, and where. Then sell it to me. I've been looking for a utility/touring frame and would be very happy finding something like this. The XO-1 ranks very high in cult status among the iBOB subscribers. I'd imagine an XO-3 would garner some interest as well.
My catch of the day report: 4 weekends, probably over 100 yard sales, flea markets, thrift store visits, a good number of riding hours lost. This is peak yard sale season around here. Finds: 0
I've given parts and frames away free, and virtually free. Where's my karma**********????

Sell it? Nonsense, hehe. I just took it on a 3 mile ride, dodging cars and half drunk pedestrians the whole way. It put a permanent smile on my face. Only had three problems, which isn't bad for right out the door of a flea market. Tried to shift the front to the big gear to get some speed going, and the cable came out of the housing, lol!! Apparently the housings are bad. Second problem, I'm almost home, and shift into the smallest rear gear. The chain went too far over and jammed between the gear and frame. Had to undo the wheel to get it back on track. Third, I realized that I need about another inch of stem, and it's at the max height already. Other than that, it was a really nice ride.,,,,BD

I believe it's a 93, according to this page? It has the dummy levers, the red paint, and the same looking markings. They don't mention the triple front though, and the 94 shows bar end shifters and traditional road levers instead of regular grips and dummy levers.,,,,BD
My bike is one of only 3000? SWEET!

Free bike yesterday -- 1978 Schwinn Collegiate 3 in pretty good shape, save for the tires and tubes which are completely rotted. Gave the wheels a spin and shifted and the SA hub seems to be working okay. Has a set of the half size chrome fenders on it.

My garage sale $4.99 1984 World Sport. Total breakdown and cleanup/maint. Replaced tires/tubes, brake pads, pedals, seat, added bell and computer. Total investment $100.00. Love the thing!

Here it is with a real front wheel, a slight wipedown, and the fresh B17. I will take better pics once I do
the full on clean/relube.,,,,BD
Now, out for a ride to start breaking in the saddle.

I'm hooked! I can't stop riding it, which I guess is a good thing, right? I've been on three rides since I got it yesterday morning. Thanks for the compliments!,,,,BD
I still need more stem. I'm leaning just a bit too much on the bars. If I use the dummy levers and crank hard it's about right, but on the grips the pressure starts quickly.

Visited my local recycling center today and found front and rear Mavic GP4 wheels w/Shimano 105 hubs for sew-ups in great condition. Rear wheel has 6 speed freewheel in great condition. Wheels are true, hubs are spinning sweet but I don't want sew-ups. I'll either cannabalize the wheels for the hubs OR:
1) sell them on craigslist or E-Bay
2) Offer to trade with a member for components for an upcoming build.
Any Takers?
P.S. Prepare to be crushed by this bit of news _ I saw a Tommassini frame w/ nice Columbus tubing which had been sawed in half lying in the bin. Somebody had taken a hacksaw and severed the top tube and the bottom tube from the back half of the frame. Couldn't find the top half. I almost cried. Salvaged a Dura-Ace rear brake from the frame in the midst of my tears.

The only thing I don't like about it, is the very busy cable arrangement on the front end. I'm going to try and clean it up some on the recable. It looks worse in the pics, than it does in person.,,,,BD
