noob needs some help

hi there, i'm sure you've never been asked to find out the date on an older peugeot.... but i couldn't find a site to punch in the serial number to find the production date. if there is a site like this, let me know, but if not, i would appreciate it if someone here could tell me the year of my bike. here's some pictures of it, and the serial number is 1739624.

I'm gonna be no help on this, but for your peace of mind, "Help me identify this Peugeot" is probably the most popular thread title in this forum.

On Craigslist, the most frequently seen Peugeot model is the Cadre Allege, which is like having a Chevy Unleaded Fuel Only.

Hi, I believe that it's a 1971 and was a low/mid-range bike from Peugeot....looks like somebody replaced the rear derailleur....
Turn the bike upside down and see if the bottom bracket has 1 or 2 letters stamped into it...

You did good if you got it for less than $40

well, i got the bike for $20 at a garage sale and it has some nice upgraded wheels on it. the rear derailleur has been changed out, but other than that it seems to be fairly stock with a few mods here and there. there isn't a letter on the bottom bracket, just this:
