Peugto 753 tubing/steel or aluminum?
Here is an add for a 753 Peugot. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/bik/240383278.html I am not the seller of this bike so I hope the craigslist reference doesnt get me into trouble. I'm thinking of buying this bike. As far as I know Reynolds only made steel tubing. The seller said he would take 450. If it is in fact a Reynolds 753 frame I would say its a deal.

Reynolds 753 is a steel frame. Often times see people claim the
frames are Aluminium.
$450 is a good deal imho

I think sellers who don't know better think that steel is heavy, so anything with a special number or name must be some other material. 753 is great.

I believe the name "Reynolds" throws a lot of Americans. Reynolds Metals Company was a huge aluminum packaging producer (aluminum foil) that merged with ALCOA (Aluminum Company of America) in 2000, so many Americans think anything with the name "Reynolds" is aluminum.
I've seen lots of eBay bicycle listings with Reynolds 531, 631, 753, 853, etc., frames where the frame material is erroneously listed as "aluminum"...

Looks to be an 1988 Chorus model. The weight is a couple of pounds optimistic. The Peugeot literature spec'd it at 20.9 lbs. It was spec'd with 753, but not sure if that includes the stays, though the forks are spec'd as 753. One point to be aware of, assuming that I'm correct on the year, is that an original wheelset will be tubulars (this scares some people). Don't have the original price but 1988 SL/Chorus models were going for $1600+ US, so $450 sounds like a fair deal provided it's in good cosmetic and mechanical condition.
