Miyata 210 v. 310?

What's the difference in frame quality between a Miyata 210 and a 310? Seem to be the same steel. Thanks in advance for any help.

They are both CrMo, but the 310 is double butted, the 210 isn't.

The 210 is a tourer, the 310 is road. So I would assume the 210 is meant to be sturdier as well as having the different geometry, brazeons, and similar.

Here's a quote from T-Mar, resident Miyata expert, from this thread:

The Grand Touring series were the 2xx, 6xx and the 1000 model and were intended for long, single or mutiple day rides. The 2xx series was lower, mid-range, with the 210 being the most common. The 6xx series was upper, mid-range with the 610 being the most common. The high end model was the 1000, in its various versions. There were a number of other Grand Touring models, including the 215ST, 600GT, 615, 615GT and 621ST to name but a few.

All the 3xx, 5xx, 7xx, and 9xx series models were intended for fitness and amateur competition. Two other unique models that fit this category are the 414 and 1200.

The Pro series was aimed strictly at competitors who wanted a high end bicycle. The most common were the Pro and Team models.

The above breakdown covers only the steel frame models from the 1980s and 1990s. Things get complicated when you try to include the non-steel models and 1970s models.

I search using Google, then look for the bikeforums.net hits. Google search engine is much better than the search function here.

BTW, I have a 310 with triple-butted chromoly tubes.

I have a 215ST touring bike. It is triple butted.

In 1984 the 310 was double butted - this changed subsequently, but since we don't know if the OP has a particular year in mind, one can't be more specific.

Thanks for the help. I'll post some more specific model info soon.
