Retro Racer: Which frame?

I have 2 different frame and fork sets that I can use for my project:

VeloSport, an Italian built bike for a Canadian bicycle company that mainly built dept. store bikes but had this very nice bike in the line up in the early 80's.

Columbus SL, Campagnolo short dropouts, nice lug and frame details, 56cm ST ctc, 56cm TT ctc, 75dg ST, 74.5dg HT (pretty typical North American "crit" geometry from the 80's) freshly painted.

or;

Proctor/Townsend, a small Canadian outfit from the 80's based in Edmonton Alberta. Hand built by Gary Townsend in 1987, I believe this is the "Classic Pro" model.

Reynolds 531c, Campagnolo short dropouts with fender mounts, lugged, internal brake cable on the TT, 56cm ST ctc, 57cm TT ctc, 73dg ST, 73.5dg Ht, also freshly painted.

I am leaning towards the Proctor/Townsend at this point for a couple of reasons, It is really built along the lines of the ANT or IF "Club Racer" but maybe a little tighter on tire/fender clearances. It is Canadian built rather than built for a Canadian company. I think that with the vintage/new parts mix I am considering, that if it doesn't cut it as my meal ticket back into the fray it will make a great Brevet/Audax bike.

What say ye?

hmmmm..........I would lean to the Columbus SL bike with the campy dropouts, both top notch stuff back in the day. Of course Reynolds 531 is some great stuff too, but the 'SL' was Columbus's flagship racing tube material for years. Both sound like some great bikes with the high end steel they use, so go for which one is the best built as to brazing and lug fitting. Also the Columbus SL bike may be lighter.

Build em both then post pictures. They both sound like worthy candidates for revival!

They are both very nice, but I think that I will build up the Proctor Townsend first with a mix of vintage/new parts and then this spring I might put a 2007 Veloce gruppo on the VeloSport. I can always mix it up and change out stuff later.

I will post up pics along the way, thanks for the interest.
