y'all may hate me
I hate those pre attached cable guides on the bb shell of some 80's Italian racing bikes, I just think they are ugly and a way to scratch the hell outta the allready fragile paint job. Well I'm gonna cut em off, and drill out the spaces where they attached. I always liked bikes with cut-out in the bb shell anyways. Oh and I'm gonna be using one of those pretty campy bb guides to replace the pre attached ones.
well here is the bike:

Why don't you sell me that beautiful Casati frame so you can buy what you really want....

Plus, the Campy guide sends the rear der cable down above the BB. Are you going to cut the chainstay guide off and use a clamp-on back there as well? Enjoy your can of worms.

The solution to your problem, assuming you're referring to the under-bb routing, is to get a length of teflon casing liner out of an old brake cable, and route your cable through it. No scratching, and there are a variety of colors, so you can match your frame. Heat-shrink tubing, like you can get at a radio shack, also works fine. If you can't find any in white, let me know and I'll send you some.

Circa 1980 Bianchi and PKN-10: sidepull brakes, under-BB cable routing, low-flange hubs.
Circa 1960 Capos and 1970 UO8: centerpull brakes, over-BB cable routing, high-flange hubs (oops -- gotta fix that on the 1959 ).

However, as my LBS owner noted when I naively asked about converting an older frame from over-to-under-BB routing, old-fashioned over-the-BB routing actually does provide a cleaner, more direct path for the final cable housing into the rear derailleur.

I think you should just leave it the way it is, and use clamp on cable guides and a clamp on stop at the back, mean no destruction and no deterioration of value except maybe some scratches from the clamps.
