Finally... Scored me a good one

Craig's List finally paid off for me, I got a really sweet Fuji Roubaix for $75. It's made of Ishiwata triple butted steel, and had all Shimano 600 components, except for the Campy Omega wheelset. Also has a sweet San Marco seat, and everything is in excellent shape with new tires. Anyone know a thing or two about older Fujis?

I am no Fuji expert, but that is a nice find at a good price.

Sweet! I'd love to find that for twice as much! I've got 3 Fuji's -- though they are older and lower end models (two 80-ish Supremes and a Royale). I wish I could find more about them. Haven't seen much in the way of old Fuji literature or catalogs on line. Considering the number of Fuji's out there in nice condition and my constant Internet-fueled desire for instant gratification, it's frustrating.

The ad wasn't even up for 30 min before I snatched it up, must've been my lucky day! I just cleaned it all up and adjusted the derailleurs. I only got to test ride for about ten minutes last night, but this thing rides very smooth and the indexed shifting is very nice. I'm amazed at the quality of these parts, they function flawlessly. One thing I may get are some wider bars, but we'll see. I need to true a spot on the rear wheel, then it will be good for this weekend's group ride.

How is the braking with those black-anodized Omega rims and black Shimano(?) pads? I scared myself when I tried Shimano pads in my Campag. calipers. I am still not satisfied with the braking, but KoolStop salmon pads did help.

The braking seems to be fine. I don't know anything about these Omega rims, other than that they look pretty cool. Also, the hubs are Campy as well but have no markings other than the emblem. I'm guessing they're lower level stuff. I put a more modern seat on it because I intend to ride it alot and the San Marco is a bit uncomfortable.

Very nice bicycle.

I know I'd only use Vise grips as a last resort on my Fuji.

the ad had been up for a little (real little) while; I was looking at the same bike. Good for you!

Just for curiosity's sake, what size is it?

It's a 56cm. The stem on it is too short for me, so that's one thing I'll have to replace. Anyone got a 130 or 140mm stem? I've learned not to wait around, I've missed out too many times before.

Oh, the vice grips were for a different project. I'm sure my bikes are afraid of them/
