Quattro Assi made of Columbus Genius tubs
Hi
came across an almost new Quarto Assi frame made of Columbus Genius tubs, no lugs, carbon front fork
never herd on this company, and I'm planning to give my colnago Mexico some rest
is it any good ? dose any one know this specific frame/material ?
thanks

It's Quatro Assi (four aces) another on the endless playing cards/suits variations of bike names and lug-and-badge detail. I'm a little surprised that a Columbus Genius bike would be TIG welded (you say "no lugs") but that may be about right as they were developing Genius at about the time TIG was coming into fashion. It's a high quality Italian marque, based on the earlier lugged models I've seen, so I'm not sure how the quality held up by the '90s or '00s when this may have been built. Hopefully it's NOT one of those modern Taiwanese ottrocities where they have bought the name of another classic marque to slap on a mass-produced factory frame...I'm getting really bored with those

isn't Quattro Assi the name for 10 Speed Imports, or Wm Lewis Imports(one of those) house brand of frames? private labelled, contracted with an Italian builder to build for them.

I'm not sure on the lineage of Quattro Assi but Genius came out in 1991, so it's relatively modern frame. Genius was an oversized tubeset designed for TIG welding, so this is common, but Columbus also offered a Genius lugset for traditionalists. The tubeset used shorter butts and the lenght of a single butt varied in accordance with the stress. Tube walls were 0.4mm in the non-butted section. I've seen weight limits on 135 lbs for Class A riders and 150 lbs for Class B riders. (Don't ask me what they mean by A & B). I've also seen contradicting published weights, but Columbus stated 1070g for a 54CTC frame without fork. So it's very light.
