1950's Cyclocross Video
Sorry if this has already been previously posted. Just saw this video and found it very interesting and couldn't find it on the forums.
With the way they toss them things around in the water no wonder why you don't see many bikes of that vintage around.

No, I haven't seen it before, but it's fun footage.
Love the commentary.
I don't recall anyone throwing their Moots, Goodrich or Sachs cross cross bikes over the mud last weekend.
Can't believe they were throwing them in the river with such gusto in the video.
Wish there would have been more close up of the bikes......
Thanks for the post.

And nary a derailer to be seen. Nice footage, thanks for sharing. I think CX is a lot more fun when done point to point instead of in a loop.
Funny how he confesses that he moved the course arrows to create a more interesting river crossing
And the commentator rightly spotted that very nice proto-mountainbike.

That was cool, thanks for posting it. It's funny, I had a hard time understanding most of the commentary, but I'm fairly sure he said it was 1994, at the time of the commentary being added to the 1950s video. That makes sense, given how he knew what was about to happen, LOL.

This race was probably promoted by local shops who made a lot of money fixing the equipment in the week following each race.
They might also have been able to get local ortho doctors to join in promoting it.

Neat video for sure. I sent a link to this video to a buddy of mine who is slowly becoming a tri-dork. I'll be interested to see if he responds. With that stated, cyclocross is of some interest to me but I doubt I'll be doing it anytime soon given my schedule.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
It was 1960 in Middleton, Northumberland (almost Scotland)... the commentary was done by Bill Baty, British National Road race Champion in 1958 / 1959.

Coolest comment was from a bloke he said he knew Wes Clayton and said he was the hardest man he ever knew.
