Who else is rocking an old Cannondale ?
Post up pics of your old Cannondale. Here is mine:

Ok, its not a Criterium, but is in the C-Dale family. There are so few Cannondale pics on here I figured I'd toss it on. I no longer have this bike, but it was a good rider for the year or so that I had it. It was a sort of a beater, but I liked it!! Definatley a stiff ride!!!

Well, not from the Criterium series , but very similar...with the cantilevered dropouts. However, I just sold it. The frame was a bit too small, and I was laughed at for putting a Nitto Technomic stem and clunky Acera RD on it. Most people here on C&V think these are ugly, but I happen to like the look, especially in red. And the welds are super smooth, unlike most mass market aluminum frames today. I used to ride into Canada over the Peace Bridge on that thing and take it up to Niagara Falls and back all the time. |

LOL! |

Ugly? Who ever said that has been smoking too much crack:) I personally love the looks of the bikes, although I am a little biased. I race this bike, its a kick riding a bike that is 20years older than the whole field. Its funny when people dont understand why i have downtube shifters. Keep the pics coming, your bikes look sweet guys.

I have an early 90's R-800, presently not assembled. I am going to build it back up and sell it, as it is too small for me and beats the crap out of my aging body when I ride it. Nice drivetrain, though, Shimano 105 with brifters. It shifted flawlessly, just doesn't have the same appeal to me as vintage steel.

I had a buddy who swore by these things in the 80's. Criterium, Black Lightning...he had one of every model, it seemed. Everyone on my team called him "numb nuts" for reasons OTHER than his intellect.

hey guys, i'm new to this forum and just recently got into biking.
i recently purchased what i THINK is this same bike. the downtube says 3.0 series manufactured in the USA. it is the same red and has the same markings. it was fitted with mountain bike wheels and a flat handlebar. i recently had a diamondback (that was stolen after only a month...) and i was wondering if it was possible to upgrade the fork on this bike to a suspension type fork or if it is possible to upgrade the rear cassette to a 9 speed.... i didn't really know much about it when i bought it but i needed a bike to get back and forth from school everyday. any help would be appreciated! |
My Cannondale SR400- bought on Craigslist for $100, with new Hutchinson tires, handlebar tape, and a good cleaning. Original Shimano RX100 components, Wolber rims, new Bontrager RaceLux saddle.

The above ,blue Cannondale is a '90-'91,one of the least expensive.Nice though,I liked the RX100 parts.I think that's one of the best $100 buys I've seen.Aside from my taste,all these bikes "worked" damn well,seem to be fast,their riders seem fast when I see them on the road (as they pass me)or while I drive.All the red bikes are nice.The crit. had some tight angles..NO ?

Not a Criterium, but my Cannondale touring bike. Talk about a laughing stock, an aluminum bike for long hauls, no less with wooden fenders. It's actually quite comfortable to me.

I'll bet you're the only one with wood fenders on an aluminum C'dale frame! Nice touch. |

86 SR600 bought as a frame/fork from C'dale by me in '86. I originally built it with Shimano 600EX but it's now running vintage Campy. I've a;ways liked its ride. It currently resides at the in-laws in E. Texas so I don't have to carry a bike back and forth.
