Another Heliomatic Question
I pulled the back wheel off a Trek 520 I'm fixing off, the the Heliomatic lockring was loose enough to unscrew with my fingers. Is there a reliable way to reinstall it without the special tool? I'm pretty sure the bike coop at my school has one, but I'd rather not have to bring it there if it's unnecessary.

The lockring should be essentially self-tightening.

Hmm, that's a good point. So you think if I just make it finger tight and ride it up a hill it'll be fine?

Well, it's not going to loosen while backpedaling, so I'd say finger-tightening is safe. Use channel locks (GENTLY) if you are concerned.
I have a Maillard Heli too, and I hate the bastard (Although it's a pretty quiet freewheel). Glad you still get enjoyment out of yours! Hooray for proprietary systems!
