Campagnolo cable stop question

I am going to set up a new build as a 5 speed with barcon shifting. The bike has a complete Nuovo Record gruppo. I need a down tube clamp-on cable stop that is single sided (on the right) for a single barcon shifter. I found one for a friend (with the Campagnolo logo stamped upside down, oddly) so I know that they are out there...Anybody know where I might check or happen to have one kicking around in a parts bin?

Unless a mistake, they will all be upside down when used at the top of the downtube to terminate bar end shift control. They were designed for use at the bottom of the downtube to start the loop up to the front derailleur. Gran Sport, and even early Record needed or had provision for a cable loop.

Not impossible, but lightening does not strike twice often.

I seem to remember having seen a frame pump holder with just a right side cable stop. Something tells me I might even have one in a parts bin. I'll try to remember to check tonight. If you're interested in it, it's yours.

Well, sorry... I checked and I do have a Campy pump holder but it's a double cable stop, not single. I must have seen one come up on ebay at some point because I'm almost positive they exist.

They do exist - I don't have one though.

You can always take a regular 1970's double guide and carefully cut off the left side. File it nice and dab some silver paint on the exposed cut to keep it from rusting. Did that on my wife's 5 speed mixte. As far as Campy stuff goes that clamp is pretty common, and not a crime to saw up (IMO).

Or, if your frame has a clamp-on chainstay guide, turn it updside down and just run the cable under the BB shell. Use a piece of inner cable housing to keep it from cutting through the paint.

What you want is probably a #628 clamp, single sided cable stop adjacent to the bottom bracket as originally used, the campagnolo catalog shows, #627 has a "noodle" cable guide on one side in addition, designed to guide to the rear, #627 is double sided, cable stop for the front changer, noodle on the drive side.

There are variations like #630 which is a #627 with a pump retainer, of bent wire, and others showing umbrella pump fittings integrated with the various clamps, download a Campagnolo catalog or two from the campyonly website.

Good leads, those British would be the guys who used them, all those time trialists, no second ring for them! Do note that the second and third units listed are probably the same number but the design changed a small amount. Now, which one is the earlier? But any of them will probably not be cheap in the end, and with post... and possibly the Japanese yet to bid.... crystal ball says Suntour and or Huret.
