it would make an excellent seat for one of those tripod stools made out of a rear triangle.

WoW! I would ask for that big seat... but I don't know what I'd do with it. For a moment, I thought I was reading in the clydes forums for a sec when I saw that! (Actually, if you want to find a good home for that seat, you should seriously ask around the clydes forums... no offense to the clydes ((Myself included))).

I sort of want it to make a stool now but it would probably cost more than it is worth to ship. haha, but I am going to go home and make one of those stools out of a compromised CCM MTB frame I held onto for some reason....

lol...I used to have a seat like that on my old Huffy MTB, looks ridiculus now, but it was mighty comfy when I was a 300lber.

Man, that reminds me of my local lucky thrift store. It doesn't matter what kind of bike it is, they ALWAYS have one of those huge suckers on it. Road bike, MTB, doesn't matter.,,,,BD

IMHBAO . . . if you think your bike is an outcast . . . make it a single. On the other hand, if you think your bike is a member of the family, then restore her to her original grandeur!

Some people are just so rude!

But hopefully we notice it when it is blatantly pointed out.

Sorry about the hijack!

Nice find by the way!

More on topic stuff in my next post.

I'm curious about your frame decisions.

Did the fork from the Schwinn just slide right into the Panasonic? I know the stems on many Schwinns are a unique diameter, so I assumed the outside of the fork steerer may be an odd size as well.

Also, the frames look similar in size, so why transfer the Schwinn components.. is the Panasonic chromo? Just curious why you would make that switch since the paint job on the Schwinn looks like it could be a little nicer based on your pics.

I wouldn't make either one a single speed, but I wouldn't make anything a single speed other than an old coaster braked cruiser.

Yup, the Schwinn fork works like it was made for the Panasonic, just a tiny bit smaller in lenth, but not enough to make any differance in the fit, the Panasonic fork went right on the Schwinn but needed one spacer to fit perfectly, we all noticed that the Panasonic had bent forks when I first posted it, so when I got the Schwinn World and found that it was made in Taiwan, I figured a Japanese built bike might be built a tad bit better, I thought about it in my sleep (yeah, I do that a lot) and Im going to keep it a ten speed, but if you guys can tell me which frame is the best to build please let me know, Id appreciate it the Panasonic is a "Sport 500 High Tensile Steel 1020" and the Schwinn is a "World ********** doesnt say?" here are pics as it sits this morning, all the pics point out the alloy parts, stem seat post, wheelset, and brakes.

Just guesses here, but since both have stamped dropouts, and I don't think either is Chrome-moly I would say frame quality is similar between the two...

Does one fit you better and/or lean more toward the geometry you want?

Based on general angles (if I am seeing right, which isn't a sure thing) my guess is that the Schwinn would have a cushier ride than the Panasonic

Thanks for the info the bike is prob going to be sold, but I like to build them as if they were going to be keepers, that way I shouldnt get any complaints!

In that case, I would go with the Schwinn simply because of the matching paint...

And definitely keep it as a ten speed, but be sure to mention the horizontal dropouts for the single speed/fixie crowd.

EDIT: If it were a little bit smaller, I would be able to specifically tell you wjhat would get me to come down the turnpike.

I would ask for the seat for a trike project but I'd probably just go all the way and either use a bar stool of a bench seat.
