PA or CT Bike Shop that knows English 3 speeds
I've got my father's 1955 Raleigh Sport (superbe I believe) and he'd like to ride it again, but it needs some work (tires, tubes, brakes, chain, cables may be ok, light generator isn't working, etc). It's actually in fairly good shape (frame is solid, rims are pretty good), but needs some TLC from a capable mechanic who knows these bikes. I was going to do the work myself, but the more I read about them, the more nervous I get given that a lot of the components can't be found anymore, the cables are all special, etc... and if I screw something up, I'm out of the will
**Does anyone know of a bike shop in the Pennsylvania (around Philly) or Connecticut (around New Haven) areas that may have knowledgeable mechanics that would be able to work on something like this?
I was thinking Harris Cyclery would, but that would be a trip and the gas to get there would be more expensive than the cost to tune up the bike.
I'm going to cross post this in the mechanics forum as well.
Thanks for any info

It's a day trip from philly but cycle circle in Lancaster Pa is first rate.Phone# 717-295-3193. The owner tom pod has been around since the 70's and has had his own shop since the early 80's. It is a real bike shop not a new bike dealer store. He works on plenty of classics and has no problem with english 3 speeds. I had a raleigh sport , tires and cables were in stock. In philly there is a classics place on 9th st just off of south. I only browsed there 1 time never had any work done. there prices are super high. I herd the owner tell a mechanic to charge extra because he had to spray wd40 on a wheel bolt.

I live just outside Philly,(Glenside 19038) Keswick Cycle is pretty good. Ask for the head mech. named Jeff. He likes to work on old bikes and is good at it.

I agree with Tolfan's rec for Cycle Circle in Lancaster. The owner, Tom, is a good guy. jim
