FMF BB Shell Adaptor (American to Euro)
I have a question for anyone that has used the FMF bottom bracket adapter to put a euro BB into an American BB Shell. This is the adapter in question:

In that picture it looks like there are no threads where you would screw in the BB cups, but the edges do numerically indicate threading. Is it actually threaded for a modern BB or do I not understand how that thing works on a fundamental basis? If the latter, could someone explain to me how it works? Thanks!

Yes it's treaded for cups,it also has three bolts that hold it tight in the press in BB shell(which some conversion unites don't have)---sam

Yeah, you press it in to the plain bottom bracket and the insides of the adaptor are threaded for a standard English BB. I did one on a Schwinn as have a couple of other people here. The trick is to keep the two sides oriented correctly so the three screws holes are lined up. I drilled holes in a big washer so I could press the two halves together at the same time with the screws in there. The screws themselves don't have enough umph to be able to draw the two sides in and you'll just strip them trying to do it.
If you want, I can lend you the washer I made and with a bolt and some washers of your own you can press the thing in yourself.

Thanks for the info guys, and thanks for the offer reverborama, I'm all set on the cup press though. I can't wait to pop a cartridge BB into my dad's old Schwinn Suburban with some cranks that don't weigh more than I do.
