Cleat for mid-eighties Shimano 600 pedal

Does anyone know what cleat fits a mid-eighties Shimano 600 pedal?

there is a hard to find specific cleat, but i would just use slotted cleats.

Slotted 'normal' cleats work just fine. I've been using them with this style pedal for over 20 years. There is a special cleat that locks into the front section, they come up time to time on eBay. I've never found the need to have them.

For what it's worth the cleat used a Look bolt pattern and had two extra points in the front - the middle point engaged that piece on top of the clip and the two outer points straddled the outside of the front part of the pedal. The actual slots for the cage (the back of the cleat) were really shallow - a few mm, vs 8-10 mm for a regular cleat). Most people who had those pedals back then preferred normal slotted cleats, not the Shimano ones.
someone who sold those pedals, cdr |
It's also worth asking yourself where you're going to get replacement toeclips when needed. Then, when you know the answer, tell me. I have two pairs of those pedals, both running god-awful plastic clips.
