I believe Sekine was one of the first makers to delve into electrostatic painting - Their paint jobs always seem to hold up to the test of time. Pity their downtube decals weren't as good. Most of the ones I come across are of some variation like "S KINE", " EKIN ", "S IN " etc, etc....haha....

You're in thunder bay arent you? I recognize the photo locations from ebay Canada auctions.. you must have a zillion bikes! I would too if I took home every supercycle I came across, but i'm amazed at the volume of quality bicycles you find, I don't know, maybe the roads in thunder bay are nice! Really like the Marinoni Quebec, anf that CCM grand prix is pretty neat!

Yes, I live in Thunder Bay for most of the year, with the rest of my time spent in Winnipeg, Calgary and Jamaica. I do find a great many bicycles each year but this is the first year that I have really focused on selling them. Just retired and down sizing to accomodate my retired life style.

As for finding bikes, i am writing a how to do it book to be sold on Ebay as soon as I finish it. I share my bike hunting procedures, what to look for in quality bicycles that are in need of or worth restoration, simple home made tools... Anyway, you get the idea and you might want to keep an eye open for it. I might add that I have learned a lot sincce I started writing it.

Almost all of the bicycles I sent pictures of have been redone, the Marinoni is full 1976 Campagnolo Nouvo Record, the Miele full Campy Super Record, the Gardin has been replaced with a team issue frame set and Campagnolo C Record grouppo, the Cambio rino has an original issue Rino saddle now, the Steven Bauer is for sale since it is too small for me, the CCM TdC is up for full restoration this summer, the Seville and Grand Prix are for something, for sale I guess, the Makido is still as found, and last the Sekine, as it sits sports a first generation Shimano 600 Arabesque grouppo and is a real charmer.

The Sekine is wearing original issue fenders. They are aluminum with small plastic tips and good solid fender stays. I am tucking these fender sets away and do have a couple to spare. I might try a set on Ebay to see if there is an interest. I, personally, prefer them to any of the plastic items I have seen, including Bluemels.

The BCC which owned Phillips,hercules,armstrong etc was using electrostatic paint on a limited basis in 1957.
Sekine might have been the first to go full frame hotcoat,anyone know?---sam
