found this crank recently - hoping someone could tell me something about it? Why has it only got 3 arms? 170mm strada.

The al. alloy one is rare, a bit of a fuss to locate chainrings, the chrome plated steel ones seem to have quite a following and are a bit more elegant in shape, they also suffer from lack of chainrings around and the inner ring was riveted to the outer so that was an additional problem. Fresh chrome sets go for way too much money on ebay today.

For hardly used, sure is buggered up near the pedals, and poorly set toe straps & clips, who was the mechanic?

Perhaps in a previous life with a different owner, note the anno is worn off 3 to 4 cms frm the pedal eye adjacent to the chamfering, and the rotational scoring on one arm.
