Wool Jersey Group Buy from Portland Cyclewear

This thread is to coordinate a group buy of merino wool jerseys from Portland Cyclewear. Pricing works out to $58.50 shipped with insurance for a short-sleeve wool jersey, or $63 shipped with insurance for a longsleeve wool jersey, in whatever size and style you want (provided it's in stock).

Here's Portland's page, where you can see what they've got. Some sizes and styles are out of stock, so make sure they have what you want.
https://www.portlandcyclewear.com/page/page/3163257.htm

A couple examples (won't have logos, of course)

If you just order one from the website, by yourself, it works out to $84 shipped for a long sleeve, and $78 shipped for a short sleeve, within the continental US. The idea here is to get their rather attractive pricing for orders of 12 or more, where long sleeve jerseys are about $53 each shipped, and short sleeves are about $48.50.

I am not trying to make money on this but if i get the jerseys shipped to me and then re-mail them out, that will cost something aside from the time to label and repackage 11 jerseys, so i was thinking that adding about $10 each would be reasonable (Breakdown: A padded mailer is about $2, 1st Class postage within the continental US with insurance for $50 is about $5, PayPal fee on $60 is about $1.80, which adds up to almost $9).

So what that comes to is $63 shipped with insurance for a longsleeve, or $58.50 shipped with insurance for a short-sleeve. That's about $20 off the regular price, and a good $45 to $80 off buying a wool jersey from some other stores. If anyone wants more than one jersey, that would be cheaper as they could probably go in the same envelope.

Interested? I can't prove that i'm trustworthy, but i do have good eBay feedback (100% positive, 50 transactions: link) and good Beerology feedback (100% positive, 35 transactions: link). Beerology is the rating system the tech site ArsTechnica uses for its trading forum, BTW.

We need 11 people to sign on, or more precisely 11 jersey orders if anyone wants more than one. So if you're seriously interested, post below indicating this, and maybe the type/size of jersey you want. Any money transaction should probably not happen until we actually have 11 people on board and can go ahead with the order.

-Robin

Looks cool. I like wool, and I like logo-less.

Can I sign on tentatively? I'd jump on it, but at the moment I'm unemployed and strapped for cash. That may change by the end of the week.

Sure. I'm sure this won't go through until some time next week at the earliest. Good luck with the job.

Just a tought that padded mailers really aren't needed for mailing jerseys out. I've been using standard 9x12 envelopes to send out the jersey order from champ-sys that I put together. Everything else looks spot on.

I was in on the group buy at the FGG. The jerseys are very nice. But they took ages and ages to arrive. The order was placed late January and I got my jerseys about two weeks ago.

Were they custom logoed, or plain?

FYI, Portland doesn't get their jerseys in until the end of April/start of May unless you are ordering last-year's jersey styles.

I emailed the Chad at Portland and he said the jerseys should arrive about a week after they are ordered, shipping across country.

Not sure what you mean about "last year's styles".. the styles are the ones on the website, and anyway the styles are last century's styles

Every year he gets new styles of jerseys which come in April/May. He posts the new styles on his site in about November. If you order one of those new styles, it comes in April/May at the earliest.

Consider it the "spring" line.

Great.. right now all you have to do is post here.. when we get 11 people, i'll confirm and we can do the money thing, via PayPal (if you don't have a PayPal account, now might be a good time to set one up... it can sometimes take a day or two to hook up your bank account.. not sure if you use a credit card).

Right now, we're 3 down, 8 to go (if M_S has a job by now )

Hey.. just letting you guys know i haven't forgotten about this - i've just been away for a few days and need to catch up on some stuff. I would rather not take a money order. It's just one more hassle and it'll make everybody wait while it makes it way to me via snail mail.

Also, i'm surprised that there was a sudden surge of interest over the weekend.. i think we should consider this order closed now. We have more than 11 people, and being the person that has to handle everything, i'd rather not let this get too big.

Anyway, my PayPal address is robin AT bobobox DOT net

Replace the AT and the DOT with the appropriate symbols, of course.

Along with your payment, please indicate your name, address, and exact jersey preference. PLEASE make sure the style and size you want is in stock.

I'll wait a few days, and then place the order for everyone who has paid, so long as at least 11 people have paid up.
-Robin
