How much for that Holy Grail in the window?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=7298

A NOS 1972 Milano made Masi?

Well a PX10 once went for over $7K. I don't think this will beat it, though to my mind, it's a much more desireable bike.

Kinda glad it's not my size

The thing that really irks me about this one
(and I WANT it, good thing its way to big for me), is
that the seller posted about it on Classic Rendezvous
2 days before putting it on e-bay.
He spent something like 6 months negotiating with
the original owner (who bought it and put in basement or
somewhere similiar). He took detailed pictures
of him lovingly and painstakingly removing all the crepe
wrapping from the tubes. He detailed minutae like the
paint being dented from the cable housing pressing onto
it for 31 years (above seat binder bolts).
and now he's selling the darn thing on e-bay.
don't know why but this really gets my dander up.
Maybe its because I'd give my left arm (or something
more near and dear to me) for a chance at a bike like that.

ok, rant over back to normal drooling.

hehe you should see some of the people who are
bidding on this thing (I know alot of them from CR).

I saw his little "documentary" on the velostuf site.

No way in the world I sell that bike even though it is tall for me. Maybe trade it for somethig of similar quality in my size but just sell? No, not me. I mean that bike will bring good $ but it won't set your retirement or put a kid thru school whereas keeping it would be a constant joy. (that might be a little over the top but if you understand, you know)

    My .02 anyways.

any chance of that thing ever getting any miles on it?

the bank vault mentality is inevitable, I suppose- at least at the margin. Good luck to whoever invests in this Masi but I'd rather have just another pre-owned one that I could ride without regret.......

anyone got a spare 54cm Masi of that vintage?

$3,827.77. Good money though as I've said before if it had been mine I'd have kept it.

Marty, is the winner one of the CR listers?

I need to join that list someday. I hang out here, at OldRoads.com and at the Retro Board over at Roadbikereview.com but that is the true authority.

    Walter,

Been very quiet over there about this one. Some discussion
of the bike etc. but no buzz about the bike.
I have a fairly up to date list of CR members and their
ebay handles (so we don't bid against each other?)
but don't see the winner listed. I'm guessing he is.
I'm surprized that the bike didn't go to Japan to be
honest, there are a few Japanese collectors with VERY
    deep pockets.
you should sign up for the CR digest, its a fun read
and some of the posters are legendary (Richard Sachs,
Brian Baylis, Dave Staub, Jan Heine to name a few).
