My new (to me) Bianchi.
Hello all: I am in the process of rescuing this Bianchi from neglect, and wondered if the accumulated wisdom of the forum can help me identify the model. It appears to be from the '80s, and is equipped with what looks like a full Triomphe group. I am not sure if they are the original parts.
The frame looks a lot like ones I have seen in a 1984 catalogue: polished chrome for lugs with a pantographed "B", pantographed "B" on the downtube/head tube lug, "B" in a circle on the end of the polished chrome seatstay spears. (In fact, the whole frame appears to be chrome beneath the celeste paint.) The bottom bracket shelf has three slot cutouts, the rear dropouts are Campagnolo.
There is an "A" on the drive side of the seattube lug, and a 604 on the other side. Does that help?
Thanks for any assistance you can give. I am slowly returning it to working condition, and I would love to know more about the frame.
(Oh, and why does the darn headset keep coming loose? I am sure I have the bearing cup and lockring set properly!)

The "A604" is presumably the serial number (see my signature).
The chrome and the Columbus decal on the fork suggest a high-end frameset. If you provide a closeup of your downtube BIANCHI decal, someone may be able to narrow down the year, but ca. 1984 is a good starting guess.

It's 1984 or older. Double check the side of the seat lug that has an A on it. There should be a number before the A that represents the year. The number and letter and are typically separated by a dot.

It is, isn't it? It has a very smooth ride. They sure made nice bikes back then. Even the Triomphe brakes, although they require a grip of steel to operate, are easy on the eyes...

My guess would be around '86 due to the columbus decal and Victory gruppo but the fork crown looks earlier. Could it be a high end '85 frame built up with an '86 gruppo?
