Look what followed me home from work!

Had to ask to get off before 3 so I could meet the seller at his remote job location. It was well worth the trip, because the bike turned out to be a lot nicer than the pictures showed on CL. He opened his truck, and a smile began to appear. This bike looks completely original down to the handlebar wrap. To say I'm happy is an understatement I believe it's an 81, though I'm sure someone here can help. I get muddy on Japanese Schwinns. Has 600 components, obviously. I can hardly wait to finish the Voyageur now, since this one is a little closer to my size. Oh well enough with the talk, I'll let the pictures show the rest.,,,,BD

Oops....It's a Super Le Tour 12.2, in case the pics weren't obvious.

Anyone have a set of brake hoods?

Replacement Dia Compe hoods are still readily available. They're all over ebay.

BD, Great score! Not quite a chrome 11.8 Voyageur, but nearly the same frame and bike!

Yeah I know. I already had the 11.8, and then this one popped up. I wanted to
own both kilo bikes, and for an SLT to show up out of the blue was pretty cool.
It's also not RED, which every Schwinn I seem to find in my size is. All I ever see
in the other Xtra Lite bikes is red. Call me cranky, but I'm sick of red, lol.,,,,BD

Nice find. Looks like it'll clean up nicely..... Love the old license plate, that's a keeper.

Ya leave the license plate on. Back in the day in my neighbrorhood the Le Tour was the bike to have. Great find.

Amazing how tastes in colors must be somewhat regional. The last two Schwinns I came across were both Radiant Blue, a '62 Continental and a '64 Collegiate. And because my Traveler is Pearlesant Blue and the other two Schwinns are Coppertone, I'm having Dr. Deltron paint el twe's old beat up Opaque Green Super Sport that I bought, a candy red.

Yep, they must be regional. The Conti I found in Utah was Sierra brown, a beautiful color. Looks like dk brown clear over a gold base. Once in a while I find a blue schwinn, but 9 out of 10 seem to be red. I found exactly one lime, and another on CL that I missed out on. The blue with white outlined black lettering really stands out. I love it, compared to the one color decals Schwinn is usually known for.,,,,BD

A sierra Brown Super Sport would make my year.

I checked out the ebay hoods. None of them looked correct? Different contours, and no chevrons on the
backside grip area. Guess I will keep looking.,,,,BD
