Expression I read in an article describing the new bikes at a LBS. Gave me a chuckle. I'm sure the author wasn't the one that coined it, but I hadn't heard it before.

Growing up in the 70's, I have this outdated notion that I should be able to get a new, pretty good bike for well under $1000.

I grew up in the 70's too. My next new bike, right after I win the lottery, will be this carbon-unobtanium Bianchi for quite a bit more that a $1000:
