This is a hilarious auction!
I know it's a car auction on Ebay, but it is on a potentially vintage car, 34 years old.....
The description is the best ebay description I've ever read! I found it in Foo and thought you C&V types would at least get a great laugh out of it!:D :roflmao: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973-...QQcmdZViewItem |
way cool. The photo of the invisible bike is the link for the forum.
|
That poor seller...but I do like his photo of the invisible bike, and of course, the cat riding the invisible bike. I see tolfan enjoyed it so much that he made it into his avatar :D .

Ya it looks just like my dumb cat, not the smart one the dumd one.
|
I had a new 1975 Plymoth Duster and can relate to that seller. Although I think I paid about $4500 for it new. I can't imagine why anyone would pay $3000 for it 35 years later. In retrospect, it wasn't worth $3000 new. It had a new invention: self changing oil. All you had to do was add a quart every fillup and change the filter every 5000 miles.
|
Isn't that Al Bundy's car? Sounds like Al is the one selling it too! :D
|
That car is super clean...a strange ad to be sure. The photo of the cricket for good luck is a nice touch. I'm pretty sure those slant 6 engines were indestructible and ran forever, though. The engine probably still has a good 200,000 miles of life left.
|
I'm gonna date myself here....I've had 3 Dodge Darts/Plymouth Vailants and One Dodge Van with that Slant Six engine....You can't kill 'em with a BIG,Ugly, stick!!
Is that car worth 3 Grand....Yeah,mabey.I'd think about it if I had the money,Might be the last car I would Buy,as little as I drive!! |
My car has a slant 6 but its not a dodge. The gas mileage is great, over 30 mpg on the highway. If I believe the mpgometer almost 40. I see adds for hybrids that dont claim mpg that high. Wish I had the money , I always wanted a Dart.
|
My dad's Plymouth Scamp had the slant six and it lasted well over 350,000 miles and all he did was change the oil regularly and general upkeep....it outlasted him, actually.....we sold it in '99 after dad died...

Of course if anyone followed too closely I could give them a nice coating of oil with my "fogging system". |

I had a 1973 Plymount Valiant 2 door with a 318 & dual exhaust sold to me by a reverend. Actually it was more like an exorcism he performed on his own garage. Biggest POS I ever owned and I owned a ton of 'em!

That auction is the funniest thing Ive seen in a long while! Till I saw the cat! :roflmao: JEEZ thats funny! I called my daughter up and gave her the flea bay number, she saw it and almost died! then she saw the cat! It was over! Pulled her husband out of the shower to see it! Dude! Thanks so much for posting it ;)

I'd rather have a Llewelyn custom with slant 6 lugs. That car sucks
|
So, whoever wins it, be sure to post pics here.
