Has anyone put a bunch of miles on a Pre-softened Brooks?
I'm thinking about buying a pre softened team pro simply because I can get one for $86 instead of paying like $135 for a normal team pro. I'm concerned it won't last as long though. Has anyone riden one of the presoftened saddles? If so how soft are they and do they seem like they will last?

I thought the difference between a Team Pro and a regular Pro was presoftening and the larger rivet heads. I bought my Team Pro used on eBay and know only that it has been comfortable from the first day I bought it, but of course I do not know its history.

I don't think they make the pre-softened Team Pro anymore. I'd buy it. I have a green Team Pro and it's definitely not pre-softened. I think they quit making that one, too.

The "Pre-softened" embossed on the leather is a joke! I have one from new and it took twice as much as a B-17 until it began to show any sign of comfort.

The old 'Pre-softened' saddles only differed by the stamp. There was no difference in manufacture.
The French pre-softened saddles (Brooks and Ideal) did have an additional step in manufacturing that did soften the saddle. If you are asking about the current pre-aged Brooks saddles, they will not last as long as a normal Brooks. There is a difference between individual cow hides, so saddle break-in varies. |
