sugino 75 vs. sakae sa
I know. The sugino is a lot better. But how much?
I'm planning to convert my 1986 Super Course back to a 12 speed from it's current singlespeed configuration (already have two other singlespeeds). It has a sakae sa crank (which I assume is stock) with a 42t chainring.
I recently scored a sugino 75 road crank and bottom bracket at a garage sale (has "High Strength And Precision" printed on drive side arm). As much as I like the sugino, I'm inclined to sell it and just buy a 52t ring for my sakae since I suspect that aside from appearance, I wouldn't be able to detect any difference between them (I'm not a racer).
I'm curious if there are other factors to consider that I'm missing. Thanks for your thoughts.

I've got both. The I can't tell any performance difference. A petty aside, I don't like my Sakae sets black rings with silver cranks.

dougB, what is the BCD of your sakaes? If 110mm I think I have a 52 tooth chainring you can have for cost of shipping.

The Sugino 75 is at my lbs in their display case, waiting for someone to buy it. Of course I could sell it on Ebay, but to tell you the truth, I'm not in any hurry to unload it.
It's probably a good enough excuse to buy a new frame and build it up. I'm ready for project!
