I had a 1974 Jack Taylor touring bike, but it was hit by a car in ’74, rebuilt and then stolen in ’93 to be replaced by a Hollands touring bike that I still use. My light touring bike is a Jack Taylor Marathon, also purchased in ’74. Here is its latest rebuild:

^ That is one classy ride, ClemY! What kind of rear cassette and barcons are you using? I love the Cane Creek levers with the interruptor/cross levers. Very well equipped and comfortable looking tourer.

The rear cassette is a 12-32 8 spd. I haven't found the need for 9 spd. yet. Compared to the 5 spds of my relative youth, they are a god send. The shifters are Shimano indexed barcons. I used Campy barcons for years and went to the indexed barcons about 17 yrs. ago when I built my replacement for the Jack Taylor touring bike that was stolen. I find I really like the in-line brake levers, and when you start getting used to them and build the habbit pattern of using them, it becomes dangerous to ride a bike without them, so I will convert a couple of more drop bar bikes to aero levers with in-line levers.

1982 Motobecane Grand Touring Bike... nearly road worthy, a friend that hadn't ridden it in 20 years dropped it off at the house a couple of weeks ago, said he had no use for it. 10-12 hours later I think I only need tape, tubes and tires to get a test ride in.

I handle inventory. That crap drives me nuts receiving it. One location I work at is 1 room 65,000sqft and kept under 70f year round. The UPS has 275,000lb of batteries and a pair of V16 Locomotive engines to drive the generators if the power goes out.

Unfortunately the LBS didn't have any "pukey brown" bar tape to go with the frame color.

To tell the truth, at least when it comes to non-bike people, I get way more compliments on that tape than I do the bike as a whole.

I restored an Austrian made Puch made by Austo Daimler. This is my second European bike so I will hang on to it for a while. It one size too small for me but very much ridable. According to the Bulgier.net it is 23" and made from Puch Alloy Nickel-Carbon Steel, which maybe be fancy talk for hi-tensile steel. Puch calls it a Touring bike, but is it?
It weight 26.5 lbs, so on par with other Japanese bike made from Tange 2.
I love the bar end shifters. This is my first bike with them.
Paint is in good shape and so are the decals. In cleaning the frame the inside it rust free because it is fully painted. I haven't seen that before on my Japanese bikes.

Hey, you're the one who started dumping on my bike, not me. Personally, I like the flashier Centurion frames-- if I ever come across a pink and yellow Ironman in my size, it's mine.

I actually really like the color. I was actually surprised how well it all worked together, aesthetics-wise. When I bought it, it came with the grey suede saddle and the (apparently handmade) Brazil sticker. Had black bar tape originally, which I was going to replace with more black but I got a lot of feedback that black would be too boring. Guess I went in the other direction.

In all honesty I could not be more enthusiastic about the bike! It gets ridden everywhere for everything. The Ironman has actually had a flat for about a month and I haven't bothered to fix it because I'm riding this bike too much lately.

I believe the Clamont is a rebadged Miyata.

The Clamont brand was, and is, predominantly applied by an Australian bike importer/retailer called Clarence Street Cyclery to various frames built in Australia by a fellow named Paul Hillbrick. Mr Hillbrick still makes frames today, but under his own name.

My frame is a bit of an anomoly because it features a "Made in Japan" decal. Following up on your lead I have googled "Myata" "Clamont" and "bicycle" and found numerous references to Miyatas rebadged as Clamonts in Australia. I'm guessing that Clarence Street imported Miyatas and rebadged them as Clamonts for the Australian market.

I haven't got to the bottom of this yet, but I think you are pointing me in the right direction.
