Peugeot 'Lautaret' - Advice needed!
Hello all - this is my first post, so please be gentle.
I am looking for some advice in regards to a Peugeot I have purchased.
Firstly, it is labeled as a Lautaret, and the sticker at the bottom states the serial number (?) as: PE10B16C5611714. It is made from Peugeot HLE tubing using lugless construction, it has 12 (Sachs Huret dérailleur) gears, Sugino cotterless chainset with alloy cranks.Weinmann alloy brakeset and Raleigh alloy handlebars.
This may not be quite 'classic', but I paid £35 for it and it goes really well and looks the part. I have a number of questions for you - hopefully there is a Peugeot oracle out there that can assist.
1. What year was the bike made?
2. I am trying to change the seat to a micro adjust, as the seat in it is slipping very slowly, is a tad too short and is like sitting on a helmet. I have sourced a 24mm post that is a tiny bit too big. After sifting through the forum, it appears that the early Peugeots have an odd seatpost size (23.8mm?). Is it the case that it is the same for mine? Any advice?
3. Are these bars standard? I suspect that they are not, what would have been the original set-up?
I am happy with the way the bike rides, so I don't want to tinker too much, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Richie.

That little sticker tells you alot..
PE10: Model
B16: Color code?
56: frame size
11714: sequentiual serial number? Whats the stamped number on the bottom bracket shell say?
Keep in mind Peugeot distributed different models to different markets. Odds are you have a U.K. model so I.D-ing may be tough. As strange as it sounds the bars may be original. I remember such an anomoly back in the '80's.
BTW...we need the most important thing from you....PICTURES.
Take:
1. A full length side shot of the gear side.
2. One of the 'sticker' and one of the stamped serial number

1980s Lautaret
Any luck with the bike?
I am hoping to rebuild the one I got when I was 16 (about 20 years ago) this summer when I visit my parents.
Would it be possible to widen this frame, to take a 8 cassette hub, or not?
Thanks and sorry for bringing up such an old post!

p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; ** So I am dragging up this old thread of mine. I was thinking of rebuilding this old bike and even having it resprayed. I have decided it is not worth it – even for the sentimental value it holds for me – to do a full refurb, so instead I am just going to make it ride with the minimum investment and with some of the old parts I have here in Switzerland.
The difficulty is that I will only be in Ireland, where the bike is, for one week over Christmas, so I need some help putting together the parts order. This is more difficult as I do not have any photographs and there is no way to get any before Christmas
Can anybody tell me the tube diameter, what the largest tyre the frame will hold, how the rear shifter connects to the frame, etc., etc,..
Many thanks!
