I'm hoping to get some answers fairly quickly. On CL i've got two bikes that are potentially there for my purchase. I am not sure which is the better deal. The first is a Cannondale SR500 that is in very good shape but has some miles on it. It is being sold at 185. The other bike is a barely used Bridgestone RB-2. The RB-2 owner was originally asking for 300 but is willing to take 240. Both have recently been tuned up. Which is the better deal? Thanks for the help.
Depends on what you want. They are both good bikes. The C'dale will be very stiff, good for a heavy guy. The B'stone will have that classic feel associated with lugged steel bikes. It is a very nice bike.
1. What components are on each bike?
2. Are they both the right frame size for you?
You won't go wrong either way. I love my Cannondale, and I love my Bridgestone. That said, I might lean toward the RB2, mostly for reasons of nostalgia.
I know that the Bridgestone has all Shimano Exage components which I believe are very similar to 105? The Cannondale has had a few components upgraded from stock. The owner was a little unclear but I am checking that one out tonight. As long as there isn't one that is clearly better than the other, I am comfortable with going with either. They both are the right size for me.
